Frequently Asked Questions

What is Botox/Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are both popular cosmetic treatments that use botulinum toxin to temporarily reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by relaxing facial muscles. These injections are commonly used to achieve a smoother, more youthful looking skin.

Wrinkle relaxer treatments are highly popular, with millions of procedures performed annually worldwide. They are one of the most common minimally invasive cosmetic treatments, reflecting their widespread appeal for individuals seeking to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

What does it cost?

$8.99/unit at the Dr. KK Clinic. Talk to your provider about what areas you want treated and they can discuss a treatment plan and budget.

What can I expect at my appointment?

During a Botox appointment, you can expect a consultation with Dr. KK or her team members to discuss your aesthetic goals and assess the areas for treatment. We often like to mark the area and take pictures.

The actual procedure typically involves a series of small injections into specific facial muscles, which is generally quick and relatively painless.

Afterward, you may experience minimal redness or swelling at the injection sites, but this usually resolves within a few hours, and you can return to your daily activities immediately.

A Typical Schedule for Wrinkle Relaxer Injections:

Most people get wrinkle relaxer injections every three to four months for ongoing wrinkle reduction.

The vast majority of patients see us 2-3 times a year.

The treatment usually starts being effective on day 5-7, peaks at week 2-6 and starts wearing off slowly until the 3-4 month mark.

What are the side effects?

Botox is considered safe when administered by a qualified healthcare professional. Common side effects are mild and temporary, such as bruising, swelling, mild headache or redness at the injection site. More serious side effects can be discussed with your care provider!

Botox is associated with minimal side effects and is among the safest, most extensively researched and studied medications available.

What should I avoid before and after Botox?

  • Before Botox:

    • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil to reduce the risk of bruising.

    • Limit alcohol consumption a few days before the procedure.

    • Inform your provider about any medications or medical conditions you have.

  • After Botox:

    • Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat (sauna or steam room) for 12-24 hours after the treatment to minimize the risk of migration of the product.

    • Do not massage or manipulate the injected areas immediately after the procedure to ensure the Botox remains in the intended location.

    • Do not wear any hats, they put pressure on the treatment area.
